Catherine de Goursac will present a report about carboxytherapy at the Congress

A world famous specialist in applied  aesthetics, D-r Catherine de Goursac will take part in the Congress by invitation of the general secretary of UIME J.J. Legrand. The topic of her report is “Aesthetic possibilities of carboxytherapy”. 

Carboxytherapy makes skin more elastic
Carboxytherapy is a method which known in medicine for a long time. After the First World War it was used for treatment of gangrene and venous circulation disorder. Today it is successfully used in aesthetic medicine.
Carboxytherapy is an injection of carbon dioxide (СО2). According to aesthetic indications this method is used to improve microcirculation and to lessen flabbiness of  skin. Gaseous carbon dioxide can cause rather sharp mechanical stretch of skin after needling it under skin and it intensifies microcirculation and by this it improves oxygenation of cells. Cells of derma begin to function more effective as a result of this dope, synthesis of collagen and elastin entensifies.
CO2 can be needled more deeper - to the level of hypoderm. Such method is used for treating cellulitis, as CO2 destroys adipocytes.  
Classical area for carboxytherapy  is inner surface of hands and hips, but we also work in neck area, chest, correct the oval of a face (in this area the result is seen sooner than in other areas). It is necessary to take into consideration the fact that for a successful carboxytherapy skin must not totally lose its elasticity - it must possess some potential so as to react to carboxytherapy by means of retraction.
For some people CO2 affects not only skin but also muscles. In such cases you can make dimples deeper or change the form of lips. We also got interesting results about clearing of pigment spots after a course of carboxytherapy.

Stretching can also lessen after using this method, but in this case the effect is slow going and probably will not be full. Otherwise carboxytherapy makes possible to lower their width  and smooth the color of skin.
There are some contraindication for using method of carboxytherapy: myocardial infarction, hypertension, phlebitis, pregnancy, infectious disease of skin in affected areas.  
As a rule it is necessary to have 6 procedures, 8-10 sessions for skin rejuvenation in inner surface of hips or hands and for correction of stretching, 10-12 sessions for correction of cellulitis (in case if the affection is on two levels - dermal for improving skin tone and hypodermic for lessening adipose tissue volume). The procedure is scheduled once or twice a week.
Carboxytherapy can be in a way painful, as during the injected gas penetrates into skin and makes it swollen, which sinks in several minutes. Some patients feel muscle activity, some  warmth, feeling of heaviness in limbs.
Session of carboxytherapy can cause some vasodilation. In some cases rash come out, which disappears in the nearest hour. With the exception of some blue color, which disappears soon, there are no side effects. As CO2 is gas and it is included to  air composition, the risk of allergic reaction to the procedure of carboxytherapy is equal to zero.
